People often finish their course and then discover their badge does not cover the work they wanted. Knowing what each licence permits — and what employers additionally expect — saves a lot of wasted training money.

Close protection plus a current first aid at work qualification and a clean driving licence is the combination that private client employers look for. Stacking badges you will never use is money better spent on medical, driving or language skills.

What employers want on top of the badge

• A consistent, checkable work history with explained gaps.
• Current first aid — and ideally more than the course minimum.
• Clear written English for reports and logs.
• Reliability you can evidence: references from named supervisors.
• Presentation appropriate to the environment you are targeting.

Planning the next three years

Treat the licence as the start of a plan, not the end of one. Choose a destination — corporate, control room, private client, aviation, overseas — and add one credential a year that moves you towards it. Most people who reach the better end of this industry got there deliberately.
