Executive Protection Jobs: How The Corporate Market Works

Executive Protection Jobs: How The Corporate Market Works

Executive protection is close protection applied to business life: executives, boards, family offices and their travel. It is less about confrontation than about planning, logistics and making a protected person's day work smoothly while quietly removing risk from it.

What the work actually involves

  • Advance work: venues, routes, hotels, medical facilities, exits and contingencies.
  • Secure travel: driving, airports, private aviation, arrival and departure planning.
  • Residential and office coverage, often integrated with in-house security teams.
  • Travel risk management to higher-risk countries, including local liaison.
  • Discreet coordination with assistants, drivers, estate staff and family members.

How details are staffed

Corporate programmes typically keep a small permanent team and surge with trusted contractors for travel, events and board meetings. Family offices often run one or two long-term principals' officers and call the same handful of names when they need more. Almost nobody advertises. The roster is built from referrals and from vetted pools the security manager already trusts.

What clients screen for

Judgement first, then presentation. A protection officer who looks like corporate staff, writes a clean advance report, drives well, holds a current medical qualification and never repeats anything they overhear is far more valuable than one with a longer list of tactical courses. Background consistency matters: any inflated claim about service or clearance ends the conversation, because the sector is small and people check.

Getting on the list

Be specific about what you have genuinely done — principals' profiles at a high level, countries, vehicle and medical qualifications, languages, notice period and travel readiness. Vague profiles get filtered out before a human reads them.

If executive protection is your market, register your profile. It stays private and is visible only to approved client organisations — never published on a public job board.
